I’ve Been Called A Lot of Things

In one of my client sessions yesterday, we coached through a Big Belief Obstacle (a BBO) that: Personal worthiness is tied to others opinion of you. This can be a tough one to navigate beyond! But, oh, how the freedom that lies on other side is sooo worth it … the freedom to live your life and to be fully and truly yourself is an awesome and priceless reward.

I personally have been called a lot of things over the years. Some hurt. And some were so generous and kind that I had a hard time fully receiving them without deflection. Amidst this wide spectrum of things I’ve been called, here are a few that I don’t contest: Gypsy Entrepreneur, Master Coach of 13+ years, Possibility Queen, Writer, Author, Speaker, amateur Salsera, Life Hack Pro, Owner of two location-independent companies (Create Your Life! & Nomadic Leaders) and now, Nomad.

If you’ve been following my journey, you know that I now live full-time in an RV with my boyfriend and dog, traveling the country and working from the road. I’m absolutely loving it. Definitely one of the best decisions I’ve made for myself.

I’m deeply passionate about the work I do, wanting EVERYONE making kick-ass decision for their life. Because this mission and personal calling possesses me so, I am going to be stepping things up in the coming year in terms of sharing my work, because I really want to touch as many lives as possible with what I know transforms and has such an enourmous impact on the human experience.

As a reader and member of my virtual community, I want to check in with you … Are YOU game for receiving some high-level support and kick-ass results in the exciting and sometimes intimidating and frustrating process of creating YOUR dream life?

If so, it’s high-time you and I talk. Especially if you’ve been a curious observer for a while.

Yes, you’re busy – I get it. I’m busy too. But if you and I have never connected, it’s time we do, with a free session. (Yep, my gift to you.) Simply go to www.SessionwithTara.com to pick a time and get on my calendar — be it one of the few remaining spots I have open this month, or select a time for next month. Book it now so it’s in place for you. Know that I’m not attached to any particular outcome in terms of whether or not you decide to become a client, but nonetheless I lovelovelove connecting with people from my community. (If you’re already a client, please consider sharing this with someone you think could benefit from this kind of support.)

Actions speak louder than words. Behavior modification is my specialty, applying my Holistic Leadership MA, my Psychology BA, and extensive work experience. And truth is, talking and thinking about doing something is one thing. But it’s Action that makes the real difference. Put action and a proven process to work on behalf of YOUR dreams, resolutions, and “maybe somedays”.

Tired of “maybe someday”? Let’s talk — my gift to you. Let’s explore the possibilities together. Claim it here: www.SessionWithTara.com

In the mean time, warmest blessings to you and yours this holiday season.

Cheers! To this journey called Life,

The Expanding Tara-tour-y!

If you’ve been following my recent journey, you know that I’ve embarked on an exciting new adventure in nomadic living and remote working. Together with my boyfriend and dog, we are on an open-ended road trip in our 20-foot RV/mobile tiny house.

Last week we were lakeside in northern North Carolina [enjoying sunsets, campfires, simplicity and peaceful serenity while we did our work and followed the rhythms of nature]. The week before, we were in Richmond, VA [went salsa dancing, went on a walking tour of the Liberty Trail, ate yummy falafel, and on Sunday tooled around an artsy little area called Carytown …with no cares about time or to-do’s – the way Sunday is supposed to feel but honestly hadn’t in years…]

And now we’re in the Raleigh/Wake Forest area staying with my step-sister Kellie and her delightful family. Well technically, we’re their driveway neighbors since we brought our house with us and hooked it up to their water and electric. And today, my friend, soul sister, and mastermind colleague, Marcy, had me over for a delicious homemade lunch. So good to see her!

If home is where the heart is, than my home spans continents. I chose this nomadic lifestyle, in part, because it means I can visit friends and family that I don’t get to see very often. It’s a real treat to be getting some in-person time with people I missed, and feeling right at home.

It’s part of what I’m calling ‘The Tara-tour-y’. Get it?

I’m on tour, and I’m my own agent. Our loose plan is to head south and then west.

Want to join the tour?

Want to meet for a bite, and maybe an interview? Want to host us in your driveway? Want to help me line up a book signing in your town? Or a workshop in your living room? Let me know! Let’s see what we can do to coordinate our paths crossing…

Here’s to the unfolding journey!

What’s Your Action Plan?

In the closing months of 2017, it is the perfect time to map out your goals, dreams, and plans for 2018.

As I shared in Make It Your Best Year Ever, a no-nonsense truth about goal setting is that goal setting, by itself, doesn’t work. Your goals and intentions MUST be paired with an ongoing, consistent, aligned, action plan – a way to stay in momentum with the intentions you’re setting out to accomplish and create.

I am currently offering a limited number of 3-hour Intensive Planning Sessions to get YOU on course for 2018 to truly be your best, most joy-filled, most delightful and successful year ever. Together we will roll up our sleeves with a reflective, insightful Year-in-Review assessment of 2017 (what went well, what didn’t go so well, what didn’t actualize that you truly still want, what didn’t actualize because you simply never really wanted it … ), AND we will create a personalized action plan, customized to fit exactly your needs and priorities, so you have a custom-designed road map to stay consistent, and on course, one week at a time. This is how you create the kind of traction and momentum that really makes ALL the difference.

I’ve been doing this as a personal practice for more than a decade and I have been coaching others to do this for more than a decade. For 3 solid hours you will have my undivided focus and attention for the sole purpose of supporting YOU in fulfilling your life-by-design definition of success.

Ready to set yourself up in a way that creates real results?

Let’s do this thing.

I am making only a few spots available for a special 3-hour *recorded* (so you can go back and listen later – invaluable!) 2018 PLANNING SESSION. Make It Your Best Year EVER

As I do every November — I spent a few focused hours doing a Year-in-Review assessment of the closing year AND setting goals for the coming year.

I’ve been doing this as a personal practice for more than a decade and have been coaching others to do this for more than a decade. Each year, I make tweaks and improvements as I see fit.

And I must say … that my newest Weekly Progress Template is my best, most cohesive, no BS version, to date! It’s the creme-de-la-creme of Weekly Progress Templates.

I’m, of course, happy to share it with YOU – for you to adapt and use as you see fit, all in support of Your Best Year EVER!

First, here’s a no-nonsense truth about goal setting: Goal setting, by itself, doesn’t work. Your goals and intentions must be paired with an ongoing, consistent, aligned, action plan – a way to stay in momentum with the intentions you’re setting out to accomplish and create.

That’s why, in addition to setting my 2018 goals, I have also blocked out time in my calendar (on repeat, the same day, same time, every single week) to fill out this new-and-improved Weekly Progress Template.

Here ’tis:

The Create Your Life! Weekly Progress Template

What went well this week? What didn’t go so well? How do I feel? Where might I have overcommitted? Where did I come up against resistance? What can I do different next week to better support my goals, dreams, values, and intentions? Where do I need support?

A Bold Life Experiment

Experiments, by their very nature, aren’t about “doing it right”. They are about trial and error and opening up to new discoveries found along the way. Yet, all too often we stay put and play it “safe” – out of fear of failure, or doing it wrong, or believing it has to be perfectly perfect. These fears and limiting beliefs are exactly what keeps you stuck in repeating patterns and creating unwanted results.

By experimenting with new approaches and ways of being, life quickly becomes an adventure again, and new, exciting, creative opportunities begin to show themselves.

What I’m sharing with you here is two-fold:

  1. Give a sneak-peak into Day 1 of my *FREE* 5-Day Mission Possible Experiments-in-Action Program.
  2. Share a BOLD personal experiment I’m about to embark on in my own life.

So first, the scoop on the 5-day Mission Possible Experiments-in-Action experience — which you can claim here, my gift to you — is that it simply requires a willingness to engage in each of our five specially-designed, unique, powerful, fun, hands-on, can’t-do-it-wrong Experiments. Designed with busy people in mind, each high-impact experiment can easily be integrated into your day no matter what your schedule is.

And since “someday” is not a day of the week, it all starts NOW, with you creating a pure and powerful dream-accelerating ripple effect in your life, dusting off those dreams that have been put way up on that hard-to-reach shelf, or have been locked away or long forgotten – or that simply feel too unrealistic or impossible to ever actually come to fruition.

The 5-Day Experiments-in-Action Program will help you get personal with your dreams, open up to new discoveries, and activate that powerful, playful, dormant creativity that resides within YOU. Whether you are a manifesting aficionado, or have never really given your dreams much attention or importance, or maybe aren’t sure what your dreams are — either way, you will receive so much from this FREE Program.

To give you a taster, here’s Mission Possible Experiment #1:

The way you do things is, in many ways, as important as WHAT you do.

One of my biggest passions and unique abilities is helping driven dreamers and what I often refer to as “closeted creatives” to break pattern and release themselves from status quo expectations and “shoulds”, while quickly creating a life that they truly can’t wait to get-up-and-out-of-bed-for-in-the-morning.

You’ve likely heard this quote before, frequently credited to Albert Einstein: “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”

Whoever said it … there’s truth to it.

Making a conscious shift in your routine, even a slight one, can be a way to intentionally shake things up! While routine and consistent approaches can support efficiency and learning new skills … the down-side is that same-old-same-old routines can become monotonous and detrimental, stifling your creative energy and impeding the spontaneity and fun that comes from the unexpected!

These “creature of habit” behaviors can quickly become robotic, unconscious ways of being. For example: Have you even gotten in the car and gone to work, or the gym, or the grocery store, and after arriving realized that you don’t remember the actual drive there?

When you take the same route, time and time again, your mind goes into autopilot. This can happen with your life too. And, especially for us creative thinkers, and innovative dreamers … autopilot gets downright BORING!

So, consider for yourself: What do YOU do, in the same way, virtually every time? What’s YOUR routine?

Step 1) Scan through a typical day in your mind and decide on something that you’ll do differently today – something that breaks up your everyday pattern. Color outside the lines, so to speak, of what’s “typical” for you.

It doesn’t have to be earth shattering to be significant.

Whatever it is that you choose to do differently, allow it to be a symbolic welcoming of new patterns and new experiences in your life. Allow it to serve as a small yet powerful demonstration of your personal willingness to embark on a playful adventure into the unknown.

For example, you might:

  • Take a different route to work.
  • Wear an outfit that you never wear.
  • Eat something new or different.
  • If you always eat with others, eat alone – or vice versa.
  • Call someone you haven’t talked to in years.
  • Switch up your work-out routine, doing something new to work up a sweat.
  • Exit/enter through a different door than you usually do.
  • Maybe go outside and walk around your home in order to get from one room to another. 🙂
  • You get the idea…

Step 2) Pay attention to how it feels.

Tune in and be the Curious Observer of your own experience. Really notice what comes up for you and write down your observations. (For fun, you might pretend you’re wearing a lab coat while you make your notes.) Do your best to resist judging what you notice. Just notice, while staying curious about what you see, feel, and experience.

The entire 5-day process is simple AND it’s powerful. Join me for this 5-day Experiments-in-Action Program and by this time next week, you will have uncovered new ideas, possibilities, and solutions for your life that you hadn’t seen before … all by simply integrating one experiment per day that can be easily done, no matter what your schedule!

As promised, here’s the more personal second part of my share with you today. Want to know about the BOLD experiment I’m about to embark on in my own life?  Click below to read more and follow the journey…

Content Too Good To Hoard

I have a confession to make.

I’ve been waiting for the “right” time to share this …. and I got a kick-in-the pants to do it now after watching a video by Kyle Cease about hoarding content.

Oddly enough, I too had been on the very same thought-train earlier this week. Just a few days ago, I decided I would publicly share some Truly Transformative content from one of my Members Only Programs, freely … simply because it’s too important NOT to share with as many people as possible. I decided that I’m simply not comfortable only sharing it with a select few.

So, here it is. Click here to watch.

Fauxbias Video

In this video, I reveal my proven 3-step Freedom From Fauxbias™ Process, to stop F.E.A.R from: 1) sabotaging your dreams, 2) undermining your potential, and 3) slowing down your success. Forever change your relationship with fear. Create a life that you can’t wait to get-up-and-out-of-bed-for-in-the-morning and live the life you’ve always dreamed of – now, not later.

From my heart to yours, I hope this content serves you well. Honestly, I hope it completely rocks your world – because I know it can. I hope it supports you in big ways *and* small. Not only do I hope you will watch it, and bravely comment (as prompted by what I share in this video) … I ALSO hope you will pass it on because *far too many* people don’t know this critically important information, information that can quite literally change the course of your life.

Big talk, I know. And I stand behind every word.

A global shift in consciousness is underway and brave dreamers and doers are rapidly propelling this awakening further. Watch, and please do pass it on. Together we are so much more.

What’s YOUR name?

I’m going to get very personal with you here.

This week, Bethany Pearson O’Connor (a Facebook contact of mine that I don’t personally know but we share friends in common) posted something incredibly brave and articulate, about her name. And by no coincidence, I happened to see it.

While her post was about her name on the surface level, what it’s really about is her coming home to herself.

With some trepidation, I’ve decided to follow her lead, and write and share my own name story with you today. The very curious synergy of her timing, and my seeing it, feels too important for me to ignore.

I too, in these last days of 2016, have been coming home to myself, through my name. My sharing this very personal and very vulnerable story with you feels a bit like I’m undressing in front of a crowd. But, it’s my strong sense that it would not only be healing and empowering to share it, but also that it may speak deeply to you as well if you read it to the end.

My birth name was: Tara Michelle Gross.

As I’m sure you can imagine “being Gross” made me an easy target for schoolyard antics. I remember kids asking me if my middle name was “is” or “looks” or “smells”. Mean.

I remember coming home from school and telling my dad about kids making fun of my name. His response was: “Don’t make your bad day my bad day.” YUP. Keep it to yourself, kid. Don’t share your hardships with me. Don’t burden me with your hurts. You’re on your own…. Or at least that’s the message I got.

As an adult, I’ve come to know that my dad absolutely did his best and that none of his limitations or “issues” were about me. That said, it certainly didn’t make for an easy childhood. Another dad quote: “Do as I say, not as I do.” Interestingly, in his own backward way, my father became one of my greatest teachers. I made the commitment to myself to do everything in my power to live and act with the integrity and honesty of BEing someone who walks my talk. Who’s word is gold. Thanks, dad.

Anyway, so my middle name wasn’t “is” … it was Michelle.

Have you ever had the experience of meeting someone and having the sense that they have the “wrong name”? Like, it just doesn’t fit?? Sometimes I can’t for the life of me remember someone’s name, and I feel like it doesn’t stick in my brain because it’s the wrong name for them. I want to, and sometimes mistakenly do, call them by another name.

Well, I can honestly say I have ALWAYS felt like a “Tara”. It’s right. It’s MY name. My soul and “Tara” feel like a right match.

But Michelle? Meh. It always felt flat to me. I accepted it, I didn’t mind it. It’s what was on my birth certificate. But it never really felt like “me.” It was fine. No matter. I was pretty indifferent to it.

In 2003, I went to a festival in the desert called Burning Man. It was a transformational experience in many ways. On “the playa” people often named themselves. I remember meeting a woman who introduced herself as “Delectable”, for example. Another was Dr. Wasabi. When asked what MY name was … before I could even think about it, the words “Tara Sage” came out of my mouth. I’m not sure why or where it came from. “Huh,” I thoug ht, as I heard myself. Sure, yeh, Tara Sage … I liked it. And for that week in the desert, I was Tara Sage.

After I returned from 10 very transformative days in the desert, I quickly learned that I was *still* Tara Sage. Very much so, in fact.

The end of 2004, I got married. And, about 5 years later, divorced. When I married, I honestly didn’t think long and hard about the prospect of changing my name. On so many levels, I was done being Gross. 🙂 I welcomed the change: Steeves. Ok then. I had no strong objections. It seemed a perfectly fine name.

A very wise and well-meaning friend of mine, challenged me on this decision. “Why would you take your husband’s name?” she asked. “You should keep your name.”

Well, my answer to her was, look, neither one is “my” name. The way I saw it, I either had what was my now long-estranged father’s name, or my husband’s name.

I did briefly consider taking my mother’s maiden name, Giannoni, which would have in many ways felt right and have honored the fact that my half-Italian roots represented my true family, in every sense of the word …. but I decided against it. I thought that would be especially confusing and my soon-to-be husband probably wouldn’t have appreciated it. So, by default, Steeves it was.

And while I was at it, I figured this was an opportunity to let go of “Michelle” and at least own my ‘Tara Sage’ self. So, I legally changed my middle name too and became Tara Sage Steeves.

After marrying, as my business grew, and with it my “personal brand”, and I became a twice-published author as Tara Sage Steeves, I realized I was pretty locked in to that name. So when I divorced, my name remained. While I really didn’t want his name anymore, I honestly didn’t think too long and hard about it. It just seemed logical that due to my “public” face, and wanting to avert any damage-control to my brand or my business, I remained Steeves. And, legally, I still remain Steeves.

BUT – interestingly, on my holiday travels last week, I had lunch with that same friend, and my name came up again in conversation. She shared that she thinks I could just be Tara Sage. Sage, she said, could be my “last” name. In a sentence, she seeded a question in my mind and heart. Do I want to revisit this? Could I just be Tara Sage?

I mulled it over for a few days. And then, on December 23, I dropped “Steeves” from my Facebook name. It felt like a small but personally empowering and important step. And I was honestly relieved that it seemed to go rather unnoticed.

But however vulnerable it is for me, seeing Bethany’s post just a few days later, I gotta say … it feels good to be shining a light on it. Freeing!

While I’m in no hurry to manage all the many logistical pieces that would be involved in a legal name change, perhaps Prince was on to something… You can call me Tara. Or Tara Sage Steeves. Or “the life coach formerly known as Tara Sage Steeves.” 🙂

Or, if you’d like, you can call me Tara Sage.

Allow me to invite YOU to consider for yourself:

  • As our calendar year comes to a close, what would be most empowering for YOU to let go of before the 2017 bell tolls? (A worthwhile question for anytime of year so if you’re reading this post-2017 calendar turn, then think: end of the month.)
  • What would best express the truest, brightest, most authentic version of YOU?

With love, and truth, and the freedom of letting go of the old,

Happy New Year!

May it be truly merry and bright,
